n8n E-Signatures

Send contracts for signature from n8n

The DocsAutomator node fills your template and sends it for signing, to one person or several in order. The signed PDF link and the signers' values come back to n8n through a Webhook node.

Why n8n users sign with DocsAutomator

From a workflow run to a signed PDF your next workflow can use

A node, not a hand-built request

Pick the automation and map each placeholder with an expression.

Several signers in order

The freelancer from a placeholder, your team from a fixed address.

The signed PDF reaches n8n

A Webhook node receives the PDF link and every signer's details.

How to send contracts for signature from n8n

Two workflows: one sends the contract, one acts on the signed PDF.

  1. 1

    Add two signature tags

    In your Google Docs or Word contract, type {{esign.signature_1}} for the freelancer and {{esign.signature_2}} for your studio. Add {{freelancer_email}} and {{contract_id}}.

  2. 2

    Choose who signs, and in which order

    In the signing settings, signer 1 comes from the {{freelancer_email}} placeholder, signer 2 is your fixed address. Let them sign one after another.

  3. 3

    Add a Webhook node

    Start a second workflow with a Webhook node that accepts POST. Copy its production URL and publish the workflow.

  4. 4

    Send the signed PDF to it

    In the automation's After signing settings, turn on Send to webhook and paste the URL. Delivery to Drive, Dropbox or by email can run alongside.

  5. 5

    Add the DocsAutomator node

    Install the DocsAutomator community node. Choose Document and Create, pick the automation and map each placeholder with an expression.

  6. 6

    Both sign, and the webhook workflow runs

    The freelancer signs, then your studio. The Webhook node receives the signed PDF link, both signers' details and the contract ID you sent.

Example: a freelancer contract with two signers

A design studio hires an illustrator. The illustrator signs first, the studio second. All names and amounts are fictional.

How the signed PDF gets back to n8n

When the last person signs, the PDF link and both signers' details arrive at your Webhook node. Your workflow does the rest.

{
  "status": "completed",
  "documentName": "Freelancer contract, Leo Novak",
  "signedPdfUrl": "https://…/contract-novak.pdf",
  "signers": [{ "email": "leo.novak@example.com", "signedAt": "2026-10-05T10:02Z" }, { "email": "ops@brightline.example", "signedAt": "2026-10-05T11:30Z" }],
  "sourceData": { "contract_id": "FL-0412", "freelancer_name": "Leo Novak", … }
}
What the Webhook node receives after the last signature, shortened.
  • Add an If node that continues only when signedPdfUrl exists. Each single signature, a decline or an expiry also reaches the same URL.
  • Find the record by the contract ID in sourceData, which holds every value your first workflow sent. Then post the link to your team, update your project tool, or download the file with an HTTP Request node.
  • To skip the second workflow, let DocsAutomator save the PDF to Google Drive or Dropbox, or rely on the completion email.

What to check in an e-signature node for n8n

Five checks before you choose a node.

  • A node, not only an HTTP call. A node that lists your automations and placeholders saves hand-built requests.
  • Several signers in order. Contracts often need the other side first and your own signature after.
  • A webhook for the signed PDF. Without a signed trigger node, the signed PDF must reach a Webhook node.
  • Price per person or per signature. Check whether each team member needs a paid seat, and whether signing costs extra on top of the plan.
  • Proof on every PDF. A certificate and an audit trail that record who signed, when and from where.

Customer Voices

Don't take our word for it. Here's what our customers say about us:

Docsautomator is a gamechanger in No Code PDF creation with Airtable, Glide or through API (which through Zapier or Make opens it up for any application).

We love the ease of being able to use a template from google docs. Other softwares' we reviewed were much more complicated. [...] We also love how easily it connects to Airtable.

After struggling with the limits and bugs of AirTable's Page Designer extension for years, I stumbled on the DocsAutomator tool – and I have to say – it's incredible.

DocsAutomator is a great service & I've been using it for around 6-months now. Automating document creation is quick, simple & highly effective, for both myself & for my clients.

Vivek Kuvelker

If you use automated document creation, this is an amazing app. We've used several others, and this blows the others away in: ease of creation of the automations, speed of execution, and responsiveness of the staff. Couldn't be happier.

Aaron Waldrip

Aaron Waldrip

DocsAutomator have helped me creating super complex documents which I had no clue how to create these with other tools as Zapier or Make.com. I have never been helped so quickly. I'm currently recommending this tool to all of my friends.
