DocsAutomator vs. Templafy

DocsAutomator lets Claude or ChatGPT fill your own contract templates and get them signed. Templafy's AI generates documents from your company's approved content. We think an AI agent should fill your contract, not write it. It brings the names and numbers from the record, your approved template supplies the wording, and nothing goes out until you say yes. Then it comes back signed or accepted. Every plan covers your whole team, from $19 a month billed yearly.

What your assistant is told before it acts

Your assistant does the work. We write its rules, and you get the last word.

The rules your assistant gets when it connects
  1. Never create or edit a Google Doc.
The assistant fills in the placeholders of your Google Doc template. It never edits the Google Doc itself.
  2. Send RAW values: numbers as numbers, dates as ISO dates.
It sends 4800 and 2026-11-01. DocsAutomator turns them into $4,800.00 and November 1, 2026, in the formats and locale set on your automation.
  3. pass a mode ('test' for a new setup's first document).
The first contract from a new setup goes out as a watermarked test, and it doesn't count against your plan.
Quoted from the server instructions on our How AI clients use DocsAutomator page, October 2026.

The wrong customer

With Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets, Google Forms, SmartSuite or ClickUp, the assistant passes the record ID. The record fills the contract, and the signer's email comes from the fields you've mapped on that record.

A send you didn't mean

When Claude, ChatGPT or Codex is signed in to your DocsAutomator account, DocsAutomator itself shows a dialog that names the document and every recipient. Nothing goes out until you confirm. If you decline, or don't answer within 10 minutes, the send is cancelled.

A live contract too early

Until you've made a test document, our server refuses to make a real one, even when the assistant forgets to ask for a test.

A contract nobody checked

Ask for an approval and the assistant names the approvers for that one document. The document waits until they approve.

How Templafy keeps AI on approved content

Templafy is built into Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. Templafy says it combines generative AI with rules, so every document follows the company's approved templates, brand guidelines, legal requirements and permissions. Its Document Agents connect to approved content, company knowledge and business data, and Templafy says each proposal, report or presentation is generated from those sources.

Templafy's MCP server is the link that lets ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity use those agents. Your Templafy account needs that module switched on.

What a 10-person team pays

Templafy charges per user. Its Team plan is listed at $40 per user a month, for up to 25 seats, so $400 a month for ten people, with a 14-day free trial. CRM, DMS and Teams connectors and approval workflows are listed on its Enterprise plan, which has no public price.

DocsAutomator charges for documents, not people. Professional is $19 a month billed yearly for 100 documents, and that covers all ten of you. Business is $59 a month billed yearly for 1,000 and adds Approvals. The MCP server, the REST API, e-signing and Acceptance come with every plan. See pricing.
