ClickUp E-Signatures

Get documents signed from ClickUp tasks

Statements of work and change orders go out from the ClickUp task for signature or one-click acceptance. The sealed PDF is attached to the same task.

Why ClickUp teams sign with DocsAutomator

From a status change to a sealed PDF on the task

The sealed PDF is attached to the task

In the task attachments or a Files custom field.

Started by a ClickUp automation

A status change calls DocsAutomator with the task ID.

The signer comes from the task

The client's email is a field of the task, never typed again.

How to send a document for signature from ClickUp

Set it up once. Every task that reaches your trigger gets its document created, signed and attached.

  1. 1

    Connect ClickUp

In DocsAutomator, create an automation with ClickUp as the source, connect your workspace and pick the list your tasks live in.

  2. 2

Add a signature tag to your template

In your Google Docs or Word template for the statement of work, type {{esign.signature_1}} where the client signs and {{esign.date_1}} for the date.

  3. 3

    Choose who signs

Turn on Signing and take the client's name and email from fields of the task, such as an Email custom field. A fixed address works for your own signer.

  4. 4

Choose what comes back to the task

Under After signing, send the sealed PDF to the task attachments or a Files custom field. Save the signing link in a URL or text custom field.

  5. 5

Start it from a ClickUp automation

In ClickUp, add an automation, for example when the status changes to Send SOW, with a Call webhook action. Paste the URL and the API key header from DocsAutomator.

  6. 6

The client signs and the PDF lands on the task

The client gets an email and signs in the browser without an account. The sealed PDF with its certificate is attached to the task.

Example: a statement of work from a ClickUp task

A web studio sends phase 2 of a project to the client. All names and amounts are fictional.

Change orders accepted with one click

For a change order or an estimate, the client's yes is enough.

Choose Acceptance instead of Signing. Your client opens the change order from the email and clicks Accept.

  • Nothing to draw and no account to create
  • They can type their name, or decline with a reason

Using DocuSign with ClickUp

DocuSign is a feature request on ClickUp's own board (checked October 2026), so teams connect the two through Zapier or Make.

The usual route: two tools and two automations

One automation sends the file to be signed. A second one brings the signed file back to the task.

The one-step route with DocsAutomator

The document is created from the task, sent and attached back in one step.

Moving from another signing tool?

Whether you use DocuSign, PandaDoc or another tool: our founder moves your templates, signers and flows over with you personally, at no extra cost.

What to check in an e-signature tool for ClickUp

Seven questions to ask before you pick one.

  • The signed PDF on the task. The sealed file should land in the task attachments, where the team already looks.
  • Signers from task fields. The client's email should come from the task, not be typed again for each document.
  • Started by a ClickUp automation. A status change should start it, with no export and no upload.
  • Templates your team can edit. Google Docs, Word or PDF, so the people who own the wording keep editing it.
  • Signing and acceptance. A contract needs a signature. A quote often needs only a yes.
  • Price per person or per signature. Check whether each team member needs a paid seat, and whether signing costs extra on top of the plan.
  • Proof on every PDF. A certificate and an audit trail that record who signed, when and from where.
