DocsAutomator vs. PDF Generator API

Finance wants a tax line on the invoice, or a payment note. In DocsAutomator, whoever writes your documents opens the invoice in Google Docs or Word, makes the change and saves it. That file is the template. Nobody waits on a developer, and your app keeps sending the same data. PDF Generator API builds the invoice in its own drag-and-drop editor, with data fields in curly braces. Our plans start at $19 a month billed yearly, with e-signing and one-click Acceptance included.

One invoice table, built in each

A line for each item, grouped by type.

Show both to whoever edits your invoices and ask which one they'd rather open. Line items can nest three levels deep, and a row can show or hide based on a value.

In PDF Generator API, adding a tax line means inserting a row in the table in its editor and filling it in. Its table cells can't hold images or be merged.

Quotes work the same way. Edit the file, then send the quote out for one-click Acceptance: your customer reads it and clicks Accept, with nothing to draw and no account to create.

POST https://us1.pdfgeneratorapi.com/api/v4/documents/generate
Authorization: Bearer <JWT your server signs with your API key and secret>
The request body (not shown) names the template and carries your data.

DocsAutomator saves the PDF to Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox, gives you a link that lasts from 5 minutes to a year, and sends your app a webhook (an automatic message) with the webhookParams you passed, so you can match it to your own record. PDF Generator API returns the document as base64 (the file written out as text), a file, a URL or a viewer link, and deletes URL and viewer copies after 30 days. More on our PDF generation API.

PDF Generator API counts credits, and one credit covers a document of up to 5 pages. Past your plan's credits, the API returns an error unless you've set an on-demand limit, which is billed the next month at a price it doesn't publish.
