This page covers that one job. The stage starts the document, the fields of the deal, the account and the contact fill your own template, the contact gets a signing link, and the signed PDF is attached to the deal.
Zoho CRM sends documents for signature through the Zoho Sign extension, which needs a Zoho Sign subscription. DocsAutomator is one step for both the document and the signature, from a Word or Google Docs file, with no second subscription for signing.

Four ways to connect Zoho CRM today
Works through Zapier, Make, n8n or your AI assistant
Zapier
The stage change starts the contract without a click.
- In DocsAutomator, create an automation with your contract template and turn on signing. Set the signer's email to a placeholder such as {{contact_email}}.
- In Zapier, use the Zoho CRM trigger "Updated Module Entry" with the module Deals.
- Add a filter so that only the stage Closed Won continues.
- Add the DocsAutomator action "Create Document" and map the deal, account and contact fields to the placeholders.
Zoho CRM is a premium app on Zapier, so the Zap needs a paid Zapier plan. The trigger fires on every update of a deal, so the filter is required.
Make
The same flow as a Make scenario.
- Start the scenario with the Zoho CRM module "Watch Objects" on Deals. It runs on the schedule of the scenario.
- Let only deals in the stage Closed Won continue.
- Add the DocsAutomator module that creates the document and map the fields.
- For the way back, use "Upload an Attachment" on the deal.
n8n
The same flow as an n8n workflow, self-hosted or on n8n Cloud.
- Zoho CRM has no n8n trigger node. Create a workflow rule on Deals for the stage Closed Won with a webhook to the address of an n8n Webhook node.
- The webhook carries at most 10 fields, so read the full deal with the Zoho CRM node: Deal, Get.
- Add the DocsAutomator node with the operation Document, Create, and map the fields to the placeholders.
- For the way back, use the Zoho CRM node to update the deal with the link to the signed PDF.
Workflow rule webhooks need the Zoho CRM Professional edition or higher. The n8n Zoho CRM node has no attachment operation, so the PDF goes back as a link.
Claude
You ask for the contract in a chat, and the assistant reads the deal and sends the document.
- Set up Zoho CRM MCP and add it to Claude Desktop as a custom connector with the address of your organization.
- Connect DocsAutomator to Claude. The address is https://mcp.docsautomator.co/mcp.
- Ask: "Create the sales contract for the Whitcombe Farm deal and send it to Graham Whitcombe for signing."
- Claude reads the deal, fills the template and starts the signing request.
This route starts when you ask, not when the stage changes. Zoho lists Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf as clients for Zoho CRM MCP.
The signed PDF attached to the deal
When the contact has signed, DocsAutomator seals the PDF, adds a certificate page with the audit trail, and sends a completion email with a link to the PDF.
DocsAutomator also sends a notification with the link to the signed PDF to a web address you choose. To know which deal a finished document belongs to, put the deal ID into the document name (for example Sales Contract {{deal_id}}); the completion webhook returns that name. A second Zap receives it and uses the Zoho CRM action "Add Attachment" on the deal. "Update Module Entry" can set a field such as Contract signed.
Within a single Zap, scenario or workflow you need no webhook for the generated PDF: the DocsAutomator step returns its link, so the next step can update the deal from the trigger step.
Receiving that notification in Zapier needs a paid Zapier plan.
What to know before you start
There is no trigger for Closed Won in Zapier, Make or n8n. Zapier fires on every deal update and needs a filter. Make checks on a schedule. n8n has no Zoho CRM trigger node and receives the webhook of a workflow rule instead.
Zoho CRM can call a web address from a workflow rule, but that webhook needs the Professional edition or higher and carries at most 10 fields. A contract with more fields needs Zapier, Make or the assistant.
