Strong reasons for choosing DocsAutomator to automate & sign your monday.com documents

All you need to effortlessly automate and sign your documents

The contract when the label changes to Won

On a sales pipeline board, someone changes the Status column of an item to a label such as Won. The client now needs the contract, with the value, the dates and the deposit that already sit in the columns of the item.

This page covers that one job. The label starts the document, the column values fill your own template, the contact gets a signing link, and the signed PDF lands in a Files column of the item.

It works on any board, because it reads columns and not a fixed record type. A deals board in monday CRM, a projects board and a client onboarding board all work the same way.

Four ways to connect monday.com today

Works through Zapier, Make, n8n or your AI assistant

Zapier

Zapier

The status change starts the contract without a click.

  1. In DocsAutomator, create an automation with your contract template and turn on signing. Set the signer's email to a placeholder such as {{contact_email}}.
  2. In Zapier, use the monday.com trigger "Specific Column Value Changed in Board" and choose the board and the Status column.
  3. Let only the label Won continue.
  4. Add the DocsAutomator action "Create Document" and map the column values to the placeholders.

The trigger is instant. It fires on every change of the column, so the Zap needs a filter step for the label, and a filter step needs a paid Zapier plan.

Make

Make

The same flow as a Make scenario, also instant.

  1. Start the scenario with the monday.com module "Watch Item's Column Value".
  2. Let only the label Won continue.
  3. Add the DocsAutomator module that creates the document and map the column values.
  4. For the way back, use "Add a File to a File Column Value".
n8n

n8n

The same flow as an n8n workflow, self-hosted or on n8n Cloud.

  1. monday.com has no n8n trigger node. On the board, add the Webhooks integration with a recipe for a change of the Status column, and give it the address of an n8n Webhook node.
  2. The webhook carries the item ID and the new label. Let only Won continue, then read the columns with the monday.com node: Board Item, Get.
  3. Add the DocsAutomator node with the operation Document, Create, and map the fields to the placeholders.
  4. For the way back, use the monday.com node to change a column value or add an update with the link to the signed PDF.

monday.com integrations, including Webhooks, are not on the Free plan, and each webhook counts toward the monthly integration actions. The n8n monday.com node has no file upload, so the PDF goes back as a link.

Claude
ChatGPT

Claude or ChatGPT

You ask for the contract in a chat, and the assistant reads the item and sends the document.

  1. Connect monday MCP. monday.com offers it on all plans, and it is in Claude's connector directory.
  2. Connect DocsAutomator to the same assistant. The address is https://mcp.docsautomator.co/mcp.
  3. Ask: "Create the event services contract for the Calloway Foundation item and send it to Lena Calloway for signing."
  4. The assistant reads the item, fills the template and starts the signing request. It can then change the status or write an update on the item.

This route starts when you ask, not when the status changes. monday MCP reads and writes items, columns and updates.

The signed PDF in a Files column

When the contact has signed, DocsAutomator seals the PDF, adds a certificate page with the audit trail, and sends a completion email with a link to the PDF.

DocsAutomator also sends a notification with the link to the signed PDF to a web address you choose. To know which item a finished document belongs to, put the item ID into the document name (for example Contract {{item_id}}); the completion webhook returns that name. A second Zap or Make scenario receives it and uses "Upload File to Specific Column" in Zapier or "Add a File to a File Column Value" in Make. "Update Item" can set the status to a label such as Contract signed.

Within a single Zap, scenario or workflow you need no webhook for the generated PDF: the DocsAutomator step returns its link, so the next step can update the item from the trigger step.

Receiving that notification in Zapier needs a paid Zapier plan.

What to know before you start

The trigger means this column changed, not this column changed to Won. If someone switches the label away and back to Won, the flow starts a second contract. A checkbox column such as Contract sent, checked by the flow, prevents that.

monday.com automations and integrations are not part of the Free plan. Zapier, Make and monday MCP connect through the API.

What it costs

Plans start at $19 a month billed yearly ($29 billed monthly) and include 100 documents a month. Signing and acceptance cost $0.50 per document, charged when the recipient first opens it. DocsAutomator is made for 20 or more documents a month.

I haven't used a ton of them document generators. The built-in one in SmartSuite is painful to use. I've tried to integrate Adobe but sheesh... Then you showed up in Glide and I thought I'd give it a try.
