The contract after Close as Won

The rep clicks Close as Won, enters the actual revenue and the close date on the Close Opportunity form, and the deal is done. The customer now needs the contract: the subscription agreement, the order form or the services contract.

That contract is the document we handle here. The won opportunity starts it, its account, contact and amounts fill your own template, and the contact gets a signing link.

Dynamics 365 already has Word templates that fill a document from a record when someone clicks a button. DocsAutomator does the part after that: the contract goes out for signing on its own, and the signed PDF comes back to you.

Three ways to connect Dynamics 365 today

Works through Zapier, Power Automate or Claude

Zapier

Zapier

Closing the opportunity as won starts the contract without a click.

  1. In DocsAutomator, create an automation with your subscription agreement template and turn on signing. The opportunity's contact signs, so map their email to a placeholder such as {{contact_email}}.
  2. In Zapier, use the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM trigger "Updated Opportunity".
  3. Add a filter so that only won opportunities continue.
  4. Add the DocsAutomator action "Create Document" and map the opportunity, account and contact fields to the placeholders.

Zapier lists Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM as a premium app, so this Zap needs a paid Zapier plan. Its trigger checks Dynamics at intervals, so expect the contract some minutes after Close as Won.

Power Automate

Microsoft's own automation, for teams that already build flows.

  1. Start the flow with the Microsoft Dataverse trigger "When a row is added, modified or deleted". Set the change type to Modified and the table to Opportunities.
  2. In Select columns, pick the status column. In Filter rows, let only won opportunities through.
  3. Add an HTTP action that calls the DocsAutomator API with your automation and the opportunity fields.

The Dataverse connector is premium in Power Automate. Microsoft says a Dynamics 365 licence covers flows only in the context of the Dynamics app, so check your Power Automate licence before you build. The trigger also runs again on every update of the same opportunity, so mark the opportunity once the contract is sent and filter on that too.

Claude

Claude

You ask for the contract in Claude, and Claude reads the opportunity and sends the document.

  1. A Power Platform administrator turns on the Dataverse MCP server for your environment and allows Claude as a client.
  2. Connect the Dataverse MCP server to Claude desktop or Claude Code, and add DocsAutomator from the Claude directory.
  3. Ask: "Create the subscription agreement for the Northwind Dental opportunity we just won and send it to Elena Brooks for signing."
  4. Claude reads the opportunity, fills the template and starts the signing request.

This route starts when you ask, not when the opportunity is won. Microsoft charges Copilot Credits for Dataverse MCP tools used from Claude, unless you have a Dynamics 365 Premium licence such as Sales Premium or a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.

Where the signed PDF goes

When the contact has signed, DocsAutomator seals the PDF, adds a certificate page with the audit trail and emails the link. It can also save the PDF to a Google Drive folder.

For the link on the opportunity, put the opportunity ID in the document name. On completion, DocsAutomator sends that name and the link to a web address you choose, and a second Zap uses "Update Opportunity" to write the link into an opportunity field such as Signed contract.

Zapier has no Dynamics 365 action that uploads a file or adds a note, so on this route the opportunity gets the link, not the PDF itself.

What to know before you start

There's no trigger that fires only when an opportunity is won. The Zapier and Power Automate routes watch for an updated opportunity and check its status.

What it costs

Plans start at $19 a month billed yearly ($29 billed monthly) and include 100 documents a month. E-signing and acceptance are included in every plan. See pricing for the details. DocsAutomator is made for 20 or more documents a month.

Customer Voices

Don't take our word for it. Here's what our customers say about us:

DocsAutomator has helped our company tremendously with invoice issuing automation. We use Airtable and built-in extensions there have many limitations that prevented us from creating beautiful informative invoices.
